Kaiserreich (1936)

Description

The date is January 1st, 1936. The entire balance of power has changed after Central Powers' astonishing victory in the Great War (1914-1922). The once mighty British, French, and Russian empires have completely collapsed due to popular unrest as Germany quickly established herself as the world's superpower. Kaiser Wilhelm II has secured his place in the sun as his alliance, Mitteleuropa, has control over vast swaths of the world's resources. However, the presence of Anarcho-Syndicalism in France and the British Isles threatens to subvert the conservative imperial powers in Europe and their clear intention is to export the people's revolution across the world. Oswald Mosely and Benito Mussolini have created a new totalitarian ideology branched out of traditional Syndicalism called Totalism. Will Syndicalism become the successor to imperial capitalism after the stock market disaster of Black Monday?

Russia is referred only to its heartland in 1936 as its imperial territories have torn themselves away during the brutal Russian Civil War (1917-1923). President Alexander Kerensky is seen by most Russians as a German puppet and is very unpopular. Four interest groups seek to return Russia to her former glory: the Social Democrats, the Black Baron Wrangel's far-right authoritarian army officers, the Left Socialist-Revolutionaries/Mensheviks, and the old war hero, General Anton Denikin. Can the Russian bear wake from his slumber and reclaim Russia's dominance in the world?

Both of the French and British governments-in-exile seek a return to their homelands. Having established themselves in their colonies, the Entente has lost a great deal of their power to local nationalist movements and aggressive German takeovers. Can they consolidate a war government and take the fight to the revolutionaries that kicked them out? What of the German empire after the Entente lost the first war?

The Asian question is full of complicated answers. Mongolia lies under the firm grip of a madman by the name of Baron Roman von Ungern-Sternberg, who fancies himself a descendant of Genghis Khan. The former British Raj lies in pieces with an Entente-friendly government in Delhi, the Princely Federation to the south, and a Syndicalist government in Calcutta led by Mahatma Gandhi. Japan has firm puppet governments set in Russian Transamur and Chinese Manchuria. She lost in the Great War against Germany, but will there be an opportunity for her to claim her place in the sun? What of the new Chinese "empire" under Pu-Yi in Beijing and the Australasian presence in the South Pacific?

The United States of America is the wild card of the world. President Herbert Hoover prepares to leave office hoping to leave it to his Vice-President, Frank Knox. However, America lies in a depressed state as Germany has shut her out of the major trade deals of the world. The economic recession has left some Americans desiring extreme measures, turning to either Huey Long's America First movement or Jack Reed's Combined Syndicates of America. With these extreme parties lying on opposite sides of the spectrum capturing electoral votes in the last presidential election, the future of the traditional Democratic/Republican divide no longer looks safe. The heightened tensions in the world has only spilled over into the American landscape; will Americans accept the results of the election or will a second civil war break out? If war should come, who will win?

I don't really like Kaiserreich. It vilifies the German Empire and makes it seem like a Central Power victory would be a BAD thing.
